北彩子 AYAKO KITA
The End of the Day Begins

大学在学中より、型に流し込む透明エポキシ樹脂と木彫を組合せた作品を作り始め、現在は透明部分をアクリル樹脂の削り出しに変えて人間の存在の不確かさや曖昧さを表現する北彩子。FUMA Contemporary Tokyoでは2021年以来4年ぶりの個展となる本展では、とある人物のひとときをモチーフとした新作シリーズを発表します。
Since her university years, Ayako Kita has been creating works that combine woodcarving with transparent epoxy resin poured into molds. In recent years, she has shifted to carving transparent sections from solid acrylic, expressing the uncertainty and ambiguity of human existence.
In her first solo exhibition at FUMA Contemporary Tokyo in four years since 2021, Kita presents a new series inspired by fleeting moments in the life of a certain individual.

【Artist Statement】
今回の個展で発表する作品は、ある人物の家の中——帰宅後のひとときを切り取ったものです。
個展の開催にあたり、すべての作品がひとつの物語としてつながるような世界を表現したいと考えたとき、心に浮かんだのがこのシリーズでした。
家具や住まいの造作との組み合わせは、学生時代にも試みていた表現です。今回の制作は、原点回帰というよりも、自分の中に今もある風景であることを確かめる時間となりました。

The works presented in this exhibition depict scenes inside a person’s home — moments captured after their return.
When I began to think about creating a world in which all the pieces would connect as one continuous story, this series naturally came to mind.
Combining my sculptures with furniture and architectural elements of living spaces is an approach I had also explored during my student years.
Rather than a return to my origins, this production became a time to reaffirm that these scenes still exist vividly within me.
